Tiruvallur District: A Cultural and Administrative Gem of Tamil Nadu
Introduction Tiruvallur District, nestled in the northeastern part of Tamil Nadu, came into existence on 1st January 1997 following the bifurcation of the erstwhile Chengalpattu District. The name "Tiruvallur" is derived from the Tamil phrase “Tiru evvull?”, meaning “Where shall I sleep?”, a reference to the sleeping posture of Lord Vishnu in the revered Veeraragava Temple. Over time, the district has been referred to by various names including Trivellore and Tiruvallur.
